I don’t like leaving negative reviews, in fact I’m the type of person who will go out of their way to leave 5 star reviews when warranted. However in this case this seems to be my only recourse. I ordered a limited edition record in November, and by the time January rolled around I hadn’t heard anything from the vendor so I reached out. They told me it was delayed. Another week or so went by when I finally just did a chargeback to just move on with my life. The vendor contacted me pretty rudely and said they could send my order but only if I reversed the chargeback. I did so. Flash forward to two days ago when I received the generic version of the record, not the special violet variant I had ordered. I contacted them, and they had expected me to be a mind reader by closely inspecting a photo they had sent as an attachment that I never even opened, because I wasn’t aware there were any changes to my order. I told them they should have disclosed in writing that the violet version was no longer available. That would have been the professional thing to do, and I could have told them then and there don’t bother and please just refund me. They also made note of how valuable that violet variant is now on the marketplace? Not sure how that helps the situation when they neglected to fulfill my pre-order from two months prior. Either way, I found another small record store to support who has since fulfilled my order for the violet variant and it’s now on its way to me for the same price I originally paid. Based on my prior interactions with this vendor who seems to think being a small business owner absolves them of any responsibilities in the marketplace, I doubt they’re going to help me with a return/refund, so I’ll give this generic copy to my brother or someone else. There are also other similar negative reviews on Google and Reddit if you look that shed light on a general lack of professionalism and bad attitude with regard to customer service. Will not be ordering from this fly by night operation again, that’s for sure. Looking forward to a rude response here.
Disappointed with this place. Place a order more than a moth ago for a him vinyl kept ask them where is my order, first telling me that they just got back from vacation, then they told me that they were opening inventory, telling me that they were close to the vinyl I order, to telling me they can’t find what I order. If I want any other album, claiming they are friends with some one in the band, and care to much for what they sold from that band, been waiting for more than a moth!!!
Favorite record store in Chicago by far! The new location in Lincoln square/Ravenswood is dope, they just keep getting better and better! The owners, Mike and Jeri, are the cats pajamas cool and are so knowledgeable about music and the industry, ask em stuff they may have an answer! Never seen someone with so many tats talk so eloquently and knowledgeable about like Taylor Swift! In all seriousness tho, the nicest best people have the coolest record store in the coolest city! If they don't have what you are looking for, ask, they will likely be able to order it or at least give you details about the pressing availability and ECT. Can't find any tunes? then buy a hoodie, I got the cream zip up, soooooo soft and comfy!
Located in the Salt Shed. This record store contains a good selection of vinyls. Staff was incredibly nice and personable. Definitely a place to support
I've followed Loud Pizza from online to Highland Park to Salt Shed. Great people running the place - totally customer service-focused. If they run out of something or don't have something, they'll run it down and order it for you (as long as it's available). It's cool to see them as an early tenant in an area on the brink of cultural explosion. Who wouldn't want to go record shopping (or at least browsing) before a concert?
