Hyde Park Records

This place has been going downhill since I first bought from them in ~2007. They used to be great, but past few times I've bought from them the selection isn't what it used to be, records are routinely overpriced way over market, and generally misgraded. Expect a record they say is near mint to have multiple marks and scratches on it, and to play with repeating pops, but still priced at higher than normal prices. When you try to bring it up with them, they're beyond rude. Just look at their responses to other reviews to get a sense of the customer service, straight up unhinged. Tons of better options in Chicago.

When you hear ppl say "its a whole vibe" this is what they mean.. I love this place, can literally be there for hours.. they have cassette tapes, vhs, and vinyl yall!! Took me back in the day!! If your a lover of "Real Music" & Raw talent.. this is your spot!

I stopped by on a whim and walked out with a few gems I had on my purchase list. Reasonable prices and cool staff. Nice selection of nostalgic media.

Super dope record store. Tons of Michael Jordan memorabilia. Fun pins and other collectibles. Oh and SOOOOOO MANNNNYYYY RECORDS! Great vibes. I’ll be back.

As always I’m popping into local record stores. Had a chance to finally visit Hyde Records in one of my fav Chi town neighborhoods. Had a great time connecting to staff talking about music & local artist. Love the ambiance of the shop! Picked up records and some vintage Jet & Ebony magazines. Definitely visit if you are in town.
