About a month ago had my first time at the venue since it became not a movie theatre anymore. A friend and I came to see Trevor Wallace do stand up and it was a delight. Check in for the sold out show was simple after arriving about 30 minutes before curtain, and while the lobby area was crowded it had a bright buzzy atmosphere and lines for reasonably priced drinks and concessions. My companion got a pint for about 8 bucks and we made our way to the seats. Don't sleep on the single bathroom right before the bathroom hallway, it was empty so often with people walking back to the bigger bsthrooms. The pre show lighting was cozy and still bright enough go find assigned seats. The space is as gorgeous as I remember from seeing movies as a kid, just so cool. The seats where worn, but still comfy even for my tank a*s. The only down note of the show was a very very drunk lady about 9 seats away yelling every 5 or 10 minutes, but it didn't ride to the level of super disruptive. I think the folks seated closer to her would feel differently and would have appreciated venue staff stepping in, possibly even removing her. Great show in a great venue, glad to have it on the list of places that draw talent here.
This historical theater can still put the show on. Saw a concert here tonight and it was totally worth it. Great venue, the crowd was amazing and everyone was friendly. Zero drama and facility was clean and well kept. Will be back for sure.
I love the physical space, but the cons take away from the overall experience. Pros: beautiful design features... that ceiling! Sound system is very good (best audio is experiencedat the back of the theatre, imo). Many shows offer space for dancing as well as seats. People serving drinks are friendly. Cons: online ticket purchase comes with expensive fees, box office is only open Friday for very limited hours, performers are not held to their show time. Sometimes they don't come on stage until 1.5 to 2 hours late. I question whether this is a tactic to sell more refreshments, as I'm sure that's a gold mine. Drink prices jumped in price after show time. I will think hard before I see a show here again.
Amazing, amazing night seeing Ilan Rubin’s first show as a Foo Fighter! The venue is small and not a bad seat in the house.
Ive been here. I saw the cafanies which was a packed show. And the staff handled the crown smoothly. Then I saw the frights, there was some problem in the crowd and the security handled it well. And the lady running the commissions was so sweet :)
