Amoeba Music is an absolute must-visit for anyone who loves music. The atmosphere is great. It feels like a cultural hub rather than just a store. The layout is well-organized despite the massive inventory, making it fun to explore without feeling overwhelming. Prices are fair, especially considering the quality and uniqueness of many records. If you’re in San Francisco, this place is absolutely worth the visit.
Best record store in San Francisco. Such a clasic place and street. Great food options around!!
I finally walked through the doors of the first Amoeba location in Berkeley! Expansive space packed with records, cds, cassettes, and minutia. Not as massive as the L.A. location but this place has it's own "little brother" personality, seeming to work a little harder helping customers, putting up a vast variety of killer "grails" on the walls, competitive pricing, and huge variety in the bins. You won't walk out empty handed.
This is one of the oldest record stores that still exists in the Bay Area. My niece collects vinyl records so we came here. I haven’t been here in a very long time. There is tons of old and new records you can find. They have other items like vintage tees, mugs, pins and more. The store is huge. You can spend a good three hours in here. The customer service is ok. We got to the register and we were out within minutes. The guy that helped us can use a smile. (But maybe he wasn’t having a good day). I think the value is standard. I paid $20 for one of my shirts. I was happy. If you love musics and things associated with it you’d love Amoeba. Parking: it’s San Francisco so you know what that means? Hard to find parking unless you park in a garage. We were lucky enough to get a street parking. 4 stars - because customers service and interaction is important to me.
This record store doesn’t need much explanation—it's simply legendary. From the moment you step in, you know you're in a place that's all about the love of music. The collection is massive, and I mean *a lot* of records, covering every genre you can think of. It's a place where you can spend hours just digging through crates, finding gems you didn’t even know you were looking for. Whether you're a serious collector or just browsing, this place has something for everyone. Truly a paradise for vinyl lovers, and an absolute must-visit.
