This place is a must for anyone who loves hunting for hidden gems. This was my first time so it's a bit daunting when you first walk in the door. I'm glad I kept going and followed the narrow path through the stacks of vintage stereo components to the basement stairs. Awaiting you at the bottom of the stairs is a vast sea of vinyl. Roughly organized by genre, if you're looking for something alphabetically, you should probably turn around and head back out of the store. For those, like myself, who still enjoy the thrill of the hunt, you could easily spend hours, if not days in this magical, musty space searching for that record you just simply can't live without. Most albums are priced at $5 with some classical titles commanding $10 each. The way I see it, you're visiting a museum, and for a mere $5-$10 donation, you get to take a pretty cool souvenir home with you. Paying with cash might make for a better deal. I'm definitely coming back the next time I'm in town!
My favorite record store in the city! Steve is an amazing guy and they’ve been open for 30+ years. Come support this amazing spot - still so cool to go in even if you’re not into records. I got myself a harmonica and guitar chord cheat sheet.
This is a hole in the wall store with a decent collection ranging from rock to jazz to blues and quite a lot more. The store can get quite cramped if there are a lot of people inside. In case it helps, it’s walking distance from City Lights bookstore. We spent around half an hour, which was more than enough time to peruse their collection.
Really cute shop with lots of vintage albums. The owner is very knowledgeable, helpful and super sweet!
There are a lot of records here of different genre of music. It is, however, is not collectors paradise - as many records are sealed/new re-releases. But if you're buying them to listen them, those are perfect. If you still have a CD player, they have few CDs. I typically spend 45 mins here to browse and never walk out empty-handed. There are also few vintage guitars for sale... But be warned it is well compact place and not little children or strollers friendly.
