Roomy, well-organized store with a large selection of vinyl that is extremely clean and in great condition. I found a number of rare used new wave titles while browsing today, which is a genre most stores don't carry very much of. They also have CDs, cassettes, refurbished high end vintage audio components, and accessories. This is a fantastic local shop.
If you want to find what you are looking for, or just want a nice selection to browse, this is the place. Clean, large and well organized. Friendly, helpful staff as well.
No dusty grooves here. Well organized clean record store. I dig crates all across the country and this is a good little store. Very well curated collection of new and used records. They know what they are worth, so no real steals, and it's pretty refined so your chances of stumbling across some totally weird and obscure record is limited. That being said I loved their selection across all generas. They distilled the vast ocean of records down to the ones you will actually listen too. They carry a selection of CDs as well. In the back they feature a small amount of really nice high end drool -worthy audiophile gear. Wil def visit again when I'm in PHX
Very spacious, for a record store, with a healthy collection of new and used offerings. If you're looking for jazz, I've never seen a larger selection anywhere. They must have a few thousand jazz records alone. Found a couple that I'd never even seen before that I'd been in search of for years. Also the prices were reasonable, with nothing sticking out as being much above the median you'd see elsewhere, so that is a big plus too! 10 of 10 would definitely come back the next time I'm in town!
Sharing my experience which will probably be different from most but still worth expressing My partner and I recently started collecting vinyl and have been visiting record shops all across the Valley to experience the culture. We’ve been to The ‘In’ Groove a few times this year and have always left with something, we’ve spent over $300 there so far. A couple of weeks ago, we stopped by for her birthday weekend to see if there was anything new to add to our collection. She loves to take her time digging through records, but on the way out, she told me she felt really uncomfortable because of how the older male cashier treated her. She said she could feel his eyes on her the entire time, and every time she looked up, he was watching her. When she went to check out, she greeted him, he barely responded. I didn’t catch it at first, but I did notice the difference in his tone when the next customer walked up. Suddenly his voice was upbeat: “Hey, how are you today!” The contrast was obvious. She left feeling hurt and unwelcome, which was disappointing, especially after finally finding a record store she loved and wanted to support. We don’t expect special treatment, just the same respect and energy given to everyone else. But she doesn’t know if she’ll be back, especially when most records are cheaper online. Vinyl stores are more about the experience, which is why this hurt more. Not here to accuse but just to express how we felt in that space. Please treat all customers the same. Small moments like that can really change how someone experiences your store.
