The Groove is a Great shop!!! While on vacation in the area, my wife and I stopped in after grabbing a coffee from across the street and I couldn't resist. This was my 1st time into a store to search for pre-owned vinyl. Annie was fantastic to help me not only understand used ratings but also in searching through my list compiled on my phone over the last several months. Most of the albums I was after were listened to and personally rated by her and her post-it crib notes on the back were awesome! 12 albums later and I'm a fan! I'll be sure to stop by whenever I'm in the area again!
Love this little store. Things are well organized and the owner is an absolute gem. I have stopped once a year for the past couple years. This past time I found some classic and contemporary records.. But most importantly I also found my "white whale" record here; A copy of the Rankin/Bass made for TV movie, "The Hobbit" on vinyl in excellent shape. And yes, it had all the songs on it too! Thank you so much I've been looking to find this in person for over a decade. Highly recommended to all vinyl shoppers. You never know until you ask!
Moderate used vinyl inventory of country, pop, classical, and rock, with a little r&b and jazz. Some CDs in each genre too. For Western Michigan standards, I would say it's worth a visit for people in the area. Most of the pop vinyls were old, even for vinyl standards, very few were newer than the early '60s. If that's your thing then this would be a great place for you. Recognizable names in rock were generally market price or higher, but there's certainly bargains in all genres. I would definitely suggest visiting for used country/rock/christian/classical vinyl, but not for post-'50s pop, r&b, or jazz. If you're a serious collector or bargain hunter with refined tastes in jazz/r&b/blues/folk/pop, I would recommend going somewhere else that caters to more specific tastes. I looked through everything in rock, pop, jazz, and r&b and didn't find anything i was interested in that was less than $25, but most people will find popular and recognizable stuff in all genres except jazz and blues. Again, I would recommend visiting if you're in the area--I'm not knocking the atmosphere of the store or the fun experience of record hunting at all. My thanks to the staff for their hospitality.
This store is a great addition to the town. It’s a treasure hunt every time we go. Every time I have a new friend to town we stop in. My daughter loves it too- the variety of music is outstanding and they are so helpful! It’s a great place to buy vinyl for sure, but a great addition to the community.
Great little shop. Owner is great, too. Prices are fantastic. Mostly pre-owned, not much new vinyl. Have found a few treasures there for my collection. Check it out!
