I have mixed feelings about Media Mania. I've visited 3-4 times over the past 2 years or so, at both the old-new and newly-old locations. Newer location is a step up for sure, and there's still that familiar surface level of dust and grime that sticks to your hands after thumbing through all the games, movies, and albums on offer. Depending on who's there, the customer service can range from painfully awkward to quirky. The topic of pricing is a contentious one in the re-sell market. I'm no expert in the field. I have X amount of time as a consumer, and probably less than half of that time as a former re-seller. You can make your own informed decision based on what I say next. Media Mania offers Super Mario World—easily one of the most common games available for SNES—with a manual for $49.99. In less than 10 minutes you can find multiple eBay offerings of SMW with manual for around $30, shipped. Media Mania didn't acquire SMB with manual for $20 to resell for a $10 mark up. They probably got it for far less in a bundled trade in. We could argue this or that on the consumers behalf, or in support of small business, leaning to and fro until we reach a null point...but personally there's just that little extra $5 - $10 additional up charge that doesn't sit well with my wallet. All that yapping to say, I will probably be back..like once a year...maybe? I'm lucky enough to already have the Mario, Metroid, and LoZs in my collection that the forgotten common and uncommon games no one cares about, or your favorite YouTuber hasn't made a video on, can still be obtained for just a little higher than reasonably priced.
Overall, I’m mostly happy with my purchases. I came here a little over two weeks ago & purchased two comics & several cds. I just got around to opening the cds this weekend (they were taped which gave me reassurance). HOWEVER, one of my cds has the wrong disc in it, and all the other ones have the correct discs. I will be calling tomorrow to see if I can get this sorted out, very disappointed right now.
Such a sick place being a gamer and a nerd at the same time will definitely won't be my last trip back up there. Friendly stuff as well.
I love this place. On one of my first dates with my fiance, we went here, and then recently visited again on another date. We will continue coming here too! This place has SO many different kinds of media from all brands of video games, vinyls, VHS, movies, anything. I've found some things there that I was unable to find anywhere else, and their prices are pretty good! I did find it a bit confusing at first, because the entrance is in the back of the building and it took us a minute to find it, but there's a sign and once you know where it is it's easy. The staff is always really friendly and knowledgeable, I've had some enjoyable video games conversations with them
Nice size collection of old school games, consoles, and media. Good prices and helpful staff. Will be my go to spot for old school gaming and media South of Atlanta.
