Decent shop with an ok selection, lots of RSD leftovers to pick through. They didn’t have any mailers or packaging, and not even any bags, little odd. The prices are fairly high too. Very friendly and helpful employees, even offered to cut some random cardboard from a box flap to help protect records for travel, but the store should at least have a bag, maybe even a store branded cloth one for purchase.

If you love Vinyl Marv's is an excellent place to stop. They always have fantastic music playing, and a great selection. I picked up the new Viagra Boys album today!

Solid selection of newer alternative records and record store day exclusives. Prices are a bit steep but hey that's what you get buying newer releases. Staff has always been helpful and friendly.

The Marv’s Record Shop visit was one of the few highlights of our three-day trip to Des Moines - partly thanks to the super friendly and helpful employee who chatted with us for almost an hour and whose name I wish I hadn’t forgotten, and partly simply because the record store was actually open. As it turns out, almost everything worth visiting in Des Moines is closed on Sundays and Mondays. This shop is open every day from 11 to 7. I’ve been to the Omaha version a couple of times as well, they are both great, but the Des Moines one would actually be my favorite if I had to pick just one, despite it being slightly smaller. The prices are great and the staff make you feel genuinely welcome, answering any and all questions. 100% recommend.

We originally wanted to stop by this local record shop cause they sometimes have a dog. No dog today, but we still had a great time. The records are well organized and even had separate sections for new releases and the upcoming Hinterland festival (which is awesome). The employee was very friendly and great to talk about music with. We will definitely be back and will check out their sister shop too.
