Usually I love going here. Typically what I would do is look up any specific album I’m looking for on their website, specifically under the “in stock” category and then head to the store itself to find it. I’m visually impaired so sometimes need help to find things and it was super disappointing to be treated poorly when asking for assistance and being told that there was nothing under that artists name despite them having multiple albums by them in stock on their website.

Every time we come into this store we spend at least an hour browsing as there's always something new and fun to check out. The people working up at the counter have always been super friendly and helpful with a knowledge base unlike any other store I've been to. They go out of their way to have fun conversations and you can tell they are passionate about both music and community. Selection is unmatched and definitely worth the trip!

I went to this place when they opened and It was half the size it is now. This guy has really put his heart in this store and you can see it from the moment you walk in. Love this place. Sells vinyl, tapes, and cds, receivers and more and has an excellent selection. I promise you'll have a good experience here. Have a good day and rock on people

Bummer to have to post this about my local shop but I experienced a petty, prejudiced, gate keeping type of experience today while excitedly scooping some RSD exclusives and a few non-RSD albums I’ve been waiting to splurge on and add to the collection. The woman cashier was perfectly kind and friendly. The other dude, not sure if he owns the shop but essentially accused me of not actually wanting the records I was purchasing but instead of being a reseller - saying something to the effect of how much are these going for on discogs or eBay. To which I replied I have no idea. And he condescendingly and matter of factly stated he didn’t believe me. Real bummer when I’ve spent about 1k at exiled this year. Pretty sure this was also the same dude who asked me to name a Marcus King song when buying his live album for the spring RSD release. I played along and threw some songs out and thought how elitist that seemed to ask but I gave it the benefit of the doubt… turns out I shouldn’t have. I’ve never bought a record to resell it. I’m a millennial that grew up on hip hop, soul/funk and R&B, branched into the jam band scene in high school/college and love some classic and yacht rock. My tastes are everywhere and I guess that must’ve been unfathomable to the man accepting 400 bucks from me for some records I was really looking forward to spinning, and still do, but this experience really left a bitter taste in my mouth. Gatekeeping is lame and it’s why a lot of people buy records online and feel othered in certain live music scenes. I’ll make the extra trek into the city from now on, but hopefully I can part a few words of wisdom here… maybe… just maybe… don’t treat a paying customer like an annoyance or accuse them of scalping records because you can’t comprehend a young mixed dude liking every genre under the sun and having the money to, a few times a year, splurge on one of their favorite hobbies. Be better dude. Update to owners incorrect response: if I “got caught flipping twice” it sure would be crazy for every single record I’ve ever bought from Exiled to be open, already spun and on my record shelf. What a joke. Picture evidence of all the records I “flipped” and not because I owe you any explanation but because I want people to read this review and be able to make an informed decision about spending money at your shop. You’ve now tripled down on discriminating against me. Congratulations, you can certainly ruin a record-buying experience! Now, can you publicly apologize and explain why I faced this discrimination is the real question. The records are all fantastic - only regret is buying them from you. ✌️ Owner edited their response that they posted weeks after I posted my initial review and in that response before they edited it, they refused to acknowledge my concerns about why I was discriminated against and furthermore, again accused me of being a reseller. Once I posted photo proof of all the records I’ve bought from them this year that I supposedly bought to resell, they edited the response to a much more professional response and continued to not apologize or explain themselves. You don’t get to control the narrative after treating people like garbage. Just know if you don’t fit the appearance of what the owner considers to be someone who can afford records, you may encounter this type of treatment.

I came into Exiled Records three times and spent over $300 on vinyl. I actually love the store — it’s conveniently located, recently expanded, looks great, prices are decent, the selection is cool and always updated, and I like that they also buy records. I wanted this to be my record store. But the older woman who works there and/or owner (the only female staff member I’ve ever seen) is extremely rude. I’m not sure if it’s social anxiety, the fact that I’m Latina, menopause, or something else — but whatever it is, that’s her problem, not mine. When you own or work in a business, especially a small one, customers are a privilege, not an inconvenience. Every person who walks in is supporting your dream, not something to disrespect. The final straw was when I brought back a misprinted vinyl (a factory issue, not their fault). She didn’t bother to lead the interaction or explain anything. I was left standing there unsure of what to do and had to ask if I should go grab the replacement off the shelf myself because she wouldn’t engage. That’s not customer service — that’s dismissive. Because of this, I won’t be coming back. Which is disappointing, because the store itself is great. One person completely ruined what could’ve been a long-term customer relationship.
