I only started collecting vinyl for the last year or so. But half of what I have or more can be linked back to this shop. It's about 1/10th the size of the other record shop in town, yet I always seem to find at least 1-3 albums when I might get.
I stumbled upon Eugene’s Record Shop while my wife was at a conference, and it turned out to be the perfect way to spend an hour or two. Conveniently within walking distance of my hotel, this little spot is a treasure trove for anyone who enjoys flipping through vinyl. The used albums were priced very reasonably—almost too reasonably if it was something I already owned (made me wish I’d waited to buy them here, lol). What really impressed me was finding albums I’d never seen “in the wild” before. My best score of the day was a Tommy James & The Shondells greatest hits record for under five bucks—can’t beat that! The vibe in the shop was relaxed and welcoming. The one staff member on duty gave me space to browse freely while he tinkered with some equipment in the back, which I appreciated. No pressure, no fuss—just the joy of crate digging. Overall, Eugene’s is a gem for music lovers in Traverse City. If you’re into vinyl, it’s well worth a visit.
Awesome, small record store downstairs from the street. Great selection of albums and cassette tapes! Very cool vibe and the worker was very friendly. Awesome stop!
Neat little record shop, clean and well kept up with! You don't get to find too many of these shops anymore so these was a really cool find!
This is a sweet little shop, not easily accessible (stairs), but very cool none the less. I went for the vinyl - and left with some, but the experience was unique. Underground, dark and very hip; kinda a community type hang place that sells clothes, records and you can relax on the pinball machine. The staff guy was very helpful and upbeat/positive to everyone that came in (a crowd of kids came in and perused the stacks then hung around the pinball.) I really liked the vibe of this downtown escape.
