Diana was super helpful in getting me setup with a turntable for our gelato shop and she had some excellent suggestions of records that I picked up!!!
I go here monthly to buy a record, always has a good selection of contemporary and classic staples. Friendly staff with great knowledge of music and its history.
I love how there is no pressure to just browse—seriously I bought nothing but browsed for a good 40 minutes. Staff is so kind and actually the recommendations here are so so so fascinating (definitely not the usual stuff)! The staff posted notes all over the store with their recommendations and I just found it so interesting to read. Never knew about Grauzone, but Eisbär was such a fun find!
what makes this record store special are the 8 track cassettes, working 8 track cassette players and other other equipment, and the extremely friendly staff! i never have more than a couple bucks to spend on each record but this christmas was an exception and i splurged a little bit. the nice lady behind the counter helped soothe my indecisiveness and point out what was individually unique about each record. really a flawless experience.
Delighted to discover this shop, with a wealth of unusual music. The fellow behind the counter was playing some exceptionally unwelcoming industrial experimental music when we arrived so was super happy to hear that actually! Plenty of choices from avant garden to reggae, film soundtracks to used vinyl. A small selection of 7" singles and CDs too. And walls covered in rare items. Will certainly be returning next time I'm in NY.
