Well, the other reviewers aren't lying when they say they feel insulted by the owner. I'm pretty patient, understanding, and like to chat which is why I've been able visit several times over the last year and drop a lot of cash, but after today I've finally decided to stop wasting my gas and time here when theres so many other great local record stores to spend my time and money. Aside from mediocre to rude customer service, It's really a lot of work and takes twice the time it should to actually find anything, even though there's so much there! Everything is packed so tight on the shelves and you better be able to squat low, reach high, and have great vision to be able to read the record spines to find anything ! But the biggest issue here is the complete lack of transparency. Nothing in the store is priced. You have to take your finds to the counter, where the owners look up the highest possible listed price on Discogs and charge you that. If you aren't glued to your phone checking the app while you shop, be prepared to be stunned by the total. It's sad when I've seen other customers gather a pile of records, only to leave the entire stack behind because the "on-the-spot" pricing was so unreasonable. Nobody EVER leaves with everything they've gathered. Even if you check discogs first thinking you're ready to pay the average price listed, they'll ask for more . Ive ended up like most people do and just end up leaving with a few of my selections knowing I am probably paying too much for those too. But even more importantly, the layout is not wheelchair accessible, which is a major oversight for any modern business. There are several other record stores in town with friendly owners, fair set prices, and offer a better record shopping experience. Check out Record City, Moondog Records, Vinyl Pharmacy, Zia Records, or Vegas Vinyl. It's worth checking out Wax Trax just for the spectacle of it all, but it's not going to be the go to , and I'm just over it now.

Went in today. The selection is borderline overwhelming. I'd call it a library, but it's more than that. Prices start at $20, and were fair from there. We walked out with some good records! Rich is incredibly knowledgeable, and he and his son David were both very friendly and helpful. If you're looking for that one record you just haven't been able to find, try here.

Wax Trax is a store with used records priced not to sell - so they stay well stocked. The past reviews of this place are accurate. Nothing has prices on them, so you have to go to the counter where they look them up and come up with extremely elevated prices. I over spent on a few only because I was in Vegas on vacation and would rather do my gambling on records. It's shocking that $100 records are on packed shelves being pulled in and out with out a protective plastic sleeve. I've been to record stores all over the country and enjoy the hunt. This store is good for people who want a record but don't have the time for record hunting. You'll pay a lot, but you'll come away with your record.

Just wow! I’ve only seen 1 place like this and it’s in Shreveport. If you love vinyl, memorabilia, or just anything old you MUST go here. I stayed several hours almost until closing and never even made it upstairs. There’s about the biggest selection of rare and imports I’ve ever seen—several hundred rare LPs worth several hundred each. There’s also several thousand $5 records all in decent shape. Had a good time chatting with the owner, but you might wanna put on your thick skin and be down for some New York style banter. I looked at probably 10,000 records, snatched up a few and gave him some money, but he would’ve gotten more $ out of me if the prices were better. For example I passed on several specific albums he wanted $30, 40 and 50 including a Johnny Cash record for $40 I found hours later in town for $18. I get the feeling there could’ve been some wiggle room since I was walking out with 2 bags worth, but maybe a few bucks off max, not less than half asking price. Oh well it’s his stuff he can ask for what he feels is right. Also, I’m no professional but I have bought thousands of records at dozens of stores across the land for 40yrs and my understanding of Near Mint is much more picky. Every record is looked up on Discogs, and you will be charged the SHIPPED cost listed online as if you were custom-ordering the disc. If you really want certain records he might have a sealed copy for you in the treasure, but you’re gonna be paying full retail unless you buy a hundred at a time and then there’s a discount. So you’re looking at similar deals to EBay, BUT go anyway! This place is virtually a museum, there’s a lot more than records to see, (even vintage jackets, etc) plus you get some good old-fashioned human interaction with an eclectic old retired DJ who’s been there/done that. He’s a treasure himself! All in all, the deals were fair and it was a great place to spend a half a day. I don’t see how anyone could walk out of this place without at least a big handful of vinyl. Highly recommend!

Worth a visit if you love vinyl. My advice: don’t be in a hurry if you stop in here. You’ll get “oriented” by the owner about the lay out of the store, if you’re a first-timer like me, and then you can start digging. I found a whole section for Dinah Washington, in the “female jazz vocalist” area, which was cool, as she was just what I was looking for. Will recap here what some others have noted: 1) Nothing is priced. Everything gets looked up and proposed. 2) There is, however, a five dollar album area. Some good stuff in there as sometimes they put “multiples” in there (fine condition, just available in multiple, so one might go in the five dollar area). 3) Place is jam-packed with albums, and if you’re not okay with small spaces and narrow corridors you may want to skip this place. 4) They will play albums for you if you want to hear something, unless it’s sealed. Overall, I enjoyed my visit quite a lot. The owner is passionate about music, and I was okay with him being opinionated and a bit “New Yorker” in his communication style (straight shooter, doing his own thing). It’s clear he has been in the music reselling business for a long time, and likes to chat about it. I liked the experience of shopping there. Won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. Remember: don’t be in a rush if you want to explore and shop there. A couple other details: easy to park, despite small parking lot. Wheelchair accessible by ramp, but store inside is not wheelchair friendly due to tight corridors and volume of albums and other items for sale. If in crutches, you could make it work.
