so this place kinda blows. every time i used to go to the whole von’s block, employees would follow me around like im about to shoplift something if they dont. listen i understand that shrink is a problem in retail, but at least allow me the dignity of watching me through a camera ! other than that, i think the work culture is bad here. really everyone there is a part of this specific social clique in lafayette, which means that “having a favourite brian eno album” is the kind of thing they prioritize more during hiring than customer service soft skills. what youre left with is an insular group of 30yr old guys stuck in lafayette working for low wages admittedly vons is a bit more interesting and unique than most places in lafayette. its the kind of place i honestly WANT to like. but by any reasonable measure it still sucks. when john von erdmansdorff inevitable retires and sells the block to private equity, i wont really miss it

How could you not love Von's? The place has everything, and has been a Purdue staple for decades. Make the time to stop there whenever you're in town. Books, comics, music, fashion, jewelry. It's the best.
You can find a great deal of books, I doubt you would have any trouble. The record selection is a bit limited but you can still find some good things. They have a variety of clothing items, posters, comics, etc. It is a great place to spend an afternoon just looking through stuff and reading. I wish the staff was more helpful but it's a pretty big store.
Great place to buy new releases and brand new copies of all sorts of music (on vinyl and CD). Good collection of posters and other accessories too. I would give this 5 stars if they had old/used records from an even greater variety and if they had a greater variety of albums in general. Overall, it is a very good record store and is in a great location.
