Inexcusable Treatment at Vinyl Solutions Records in San Mateo, CA I am writing to share an appalling experience my son and his friend endured at Vinyl Solutions Records this week. My son, who was visiting from out of town, took his sister and me out to lunch along with his friend. After picking up lunch on 25th Avenue, the boys decided to check out the vintage record store. I want to highlight that my son is an exceptionally bright and responsible young man, as is his friend. One is African American, and the other is Samoan. Both walked into the record store, and within seconds, an employee physically frisked my son. This employee put his hands all over him, accusing him of theft. My son and his friend were extremely upset and left the store. I was waiting in the car and had to go into the store to confront the employee. How dare they assume my son and his friend were stealing? What gave them the right to frisk him without cause? The actions of the employee were completely inappropriate and could be considered an invasion of privacy or even assault. My son is a very considerate individual, as is his friend. They went back into the store as I was furious about what had transpired. My son explained to the employees that their actions were wrong and amounted to racial profiling. He emphasized that such behavior could be seen as an invasion of privacy or assault and requested they handle situations differently in the future. He then shook the employee's hand, and we left. No one should ever have to experience this! Our family has donated records to this store on multiple occasions because we believe in helping others. Never did we imagine that my children would have to endure such a disturbing incident. I will NEVER shop or donate to Vinyl Solutions Records again.

Absolutely love this place. A great selection of vinyl. Reason able prices. Good place to shop for audiophile pressings. The owner is very knowledgeable and super friendly. Still an amazing place after another record store day haul. This place makes me so happy. Even happier now. Just bought some sun ra records...

I was stalked by the cashier and owner while purchasing albums. It’s unfortunate that it’s more comfortable to shop online for items. Rather than be profiled by bigoted elderly white men. I’ll stick to Ameoba, Needle in the groove, and Amazon.
