The owner is a great guy. I have gotten a lot of albums and the vintage equipment to play them on. Highly recommend
Great prices, selection of records and wonderful service! Will definitely be back!
I recently visited Vinyl Record Revival, hoping to find some hidden gems, but my experience was nothing short of disappointing. The selection was surprisingly sparse, featuring mostly mainstream titles rather than the unique or rare albums I was hoping to discover. To make matters worse, many of the records showed visible damage—scratches and scuffs that compromised their playback quality. This carelessness in maintaining even a basic standard of quality was frustrating. What added to the dismay was the steep pricing of the inventory; damaged and common records were marked up to unreasonable levels, making it hard to justify any purchase. Finally, the disorganization within the store added to the chaos, with records strewn haphazardly, making browsing a frustrating affair. In a market supposedly dedicated to bringing vinyl back to life, Vinyl Record Revival seems to have missed the memo on quality, value, and basic organization.
Stepping into Vinyl Revival, a record store that promises to be a haven for music aficionados, I was prepared to dive into a world of vibrant album art and soulful sounds. What I encountered, however, was a distinctly uninspiring experience, largely due to the dismissive demeanor of the store's owner, which sucked the joy out of vinyl exploration. The store's potential is overshadowed by an uninviting atmosphere, rooted in the owner's apparent disregard for customer connection. From the moment I walked in, the lack of basic courtesy was palpable: there was no greeting, no welcoming smile, just a silent nod toward the rows of records, suggesting that any further interaction might be a disruption. As I browsed through the albums, I observed other patrons attempting to engage with the owner, only to be met with monosyllabic responses or outright indifference. It became clear that he was more gatekeeper than guide, often responding to questions with a tone that seemed to suggest customers ought to know better. It was disheartening, especially for those of us hoping to learn more about the world of vinyl or discover something new. The owner's attitude didn't just stop at unhelpful—it edged into condescending. Any inquiries about album recommendations or rarities were dismissed with a wave of the hand, as if customers were expected to possess encyclopedic knowledge of the records themselves. Such an approach does little to foster a community of music lovers and instead turns the simple joy of discovering music into an intimidating experience. Of particular disappointment was the owner's apparent disdain for vinyl newcomers. The revival of vinyl as a popular medium offers a rich opportunity to welcome a diverse array of individuals into the fold. Yet, instead of embracing fledgling collectors with enthusiasm and support, the owner seemed to revel in highlighting their supposed ignorance, a behavior that can only serve to alienate rather than attract new enthusiasts. The checkout experience only cemented my overall impression. A transaction that should have felt like the culmination of my visit—adding a cherished find to my collection—unfortunately felt like little more than an obligation to the owner, devoid of any friendly exchange or appreciation. For those considering a visit to Vinyl Revival, be prepared for a stark disconnect between the shop's appealing aesthetic and the lackluster customer experience. While there's no denying the allure of vinyl or the promise of a record store stacked with possibilities, the true heart of such a shop lies not just in its collection, but in the welcoming interactions that should accompany it. Until changes are made, prospective visitors might want to explore other stores where the spirit of music and community are genuinely celebrated.
This is such a great store! Richard always has such a good selection of albums, clothing, audio equipment, etc. I have been coming to this store since it opened here in Brockport and have never been disappointed. You won't be either.
