Tiny Telephone Oakland

best studio in the world??? i think so. just finished my 5th record here. before tiny telephone oakland was built i did 2 records at the SF studio (rip). 7 records in 10 years at tiny telephone establishments. 7 records! either i'm stupid or this place is VERY LEGIT. hint: i ain't stupid (high IQ, mensa, uno grandmaster, pickleball player, ect.). the owner james (jay?) is super nice and helpful with booking. rates are ridiculously low, gear is top notch, ambience sooo nice, engineers are pro and knowledgeable. highest recommendation!! if you're not recording here are you even recording at all???? 🤔

Pirate Radio recorded it's self-titled debut, mixed and did additional tracking for 2013's 'Plainview' and just finished tracking a new album at Tiny Telephone. The, now, Oakland location based itself around the Neve 8068 console from Sausalito's Record Plant. Every music scene needs its contributors and John Vanderslice and the employees of Tiny Telephone have been a major contributor to music in the SF Bay Area for decades.

Tiny Telephone is AMAZING!!! We just finished a 4-day recording run with the most talented, grounded, creative, efficient engineer we’ve ever worked with, Danielle Goldsmith. Danielle’s calm and positive disposition made it easy. It’s crucial to have a relaxed atmosphere when recording and truly enhances performance. She was flexible with regard to our needs as musicians (ie, needing to practice a new approach for a bit prior to recording the take), and has a great sense of humor. The equipment was top notch and extremely user friendly. John Vanderslice was welcoming and communicative, making the whole process from start to finish easy and uncomplicated. We will most definitely return next year for our next album!

TTO is one of the best musical recording experiences I’ve ever had. To the extent that a space can itself feel creative and inspiring, TTO did it. My band, Mount Saint Elias, gives a full endorsement to TTO.

Number one studio in the Bay Area. Love the staff, professionalism, timely responses, quality, instrument selection and feel of this studio.
