Martin has always been helpful over the years introducing me to new music when I felt "stuck" on collecting my same old same old...which has opened me up to some great new artists. Ive noticed his connections back to the UK have allowed him to order in some things that were more difficult for others to obtain. Ive also sold him several grail box sets and feel that I got a pretty good value on the store credit.
Great service and communication! Martin helped me find a record I've had a hard time getting my hands on. 10/10 will be a returning customer!
A nice record store to stop by while passing through Longmont. Despite the word “cafe” in the name, there is no food or drink available. I didn’t mind personally, but wanted to note it for anyone visiting specifically for that reason. The vinyl selection was diverse and fairly priced. My only critique in that regard is that the used and new records were mixed together, which made browsing a bit confusing. I did appreciate the free section in the back corner with old plastic crates and record packaging available to take. My four-star rating is largely due to my experience with the free section. I noticed a couple of cardboard record mailers clearly marked as free and decided to take them since I could use them. When I mentioned this to the shopkeeper while leaving (so he didn’t think I was stealing), he seemed to think I was lying and asked that we walk back to the section to confirm they were from the “free section”. He also inspected the packaging to ensure nothing else was being taken, which felt unnecessary and uncomfortable for me. Even after confirming they were free, it was clear he was annoyed by me taking them and led me to leave with a sad first impression. That said, I hope to have a better experience next time I’m passing through. I had heard many good things about the store and would like to give it another chance.
How have I not reviewed this place yet .. Music paradise. Martin has been a to find me some super rare discs that I thought I would never see. I would have paid whatever he asked for these discs and I was NOT over charged. Prices are WAY below other local dealers and the staff is way less judgemental This is the single place I will buy an album and absolutely truth the grade on the tag. A real Jem in Longmont!!
Martin’s shop fills the void that other local record shops left behind. Such a great selection of electronic, rock, and pop. I always find something new and the shelves are labeled very nicely. I find so much more that I’m looking for here compared to even the larger stores in the area, like Twist and Shout. Plus it’s run by the friendliest guy around. Love this place!
