This spot is a gem. A very cool and edgy haven with lots of charm. The whole concept feels both modern and effortlessly cozy, creating a space where you can relax, think, or spark up a conversation with the community they’ve clearly worked hard to bring together. They feature live DJs on weekends turning the place into a full-on vibe. Love their blend of culture and craft: great music you can buy and a tasty coffee. If you’re into places with personality, a lot of heart and a genuinely thoughtful atmosphere, this shop is for you. ❤️
Definitely recommend stopping in for a unique record store experience that will make you rethink your usual flipping through albums as everything is sorted by year versus A-Z by genre. That being said, it was not terribly overwhelming as the store was on the smaller side but was very well currated. June greeted us as we walked in and was more than eager to explain the layout and help us find anything we might be looking for. We didn't end up walking out with an album but had a great exchange. The space was also LGBTQ+ and welcoming to all. Bonus points for a coffee shop next door. Will definitely be back the next time we are in Austin. Thanks Sunshine Vinyl and June!
What a unique way to organize vinyls, not just by genre but by year. June was also very helpful and kind!
Definitely a must stop shop for vinyl enthusiasts in Austin. The store is thoughtfully laid out with records organized by year (very fun) or some by genre —including great specialty selections to browse... I got a tour from June, who was incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the music and the store itself. June took the time to walk me through the shop and point out all the welcoming highlights which was super engaging and helpful. Thanks June! They also host live DJ sets in-store, which adds such a cool vibe to the space that I'd love to come back and experience. I ended up buying gift cards for two friends because I know they'll love shopping here too. Definitely worth a visit if you're into vinyl, good energy, awesome people and great music.
Sunshine Vinyl has a special combination of music, art and humans. The conversation about vinyl, Fred Again, and art really was one of those experiences where it is best to just be, and listen, and experience. Ok that’s a lot of words to say this is a very special place, with an extremely well curated selection of vinyl and great people. Please go and experience!
