Static Era Records is everything a real indie record store should be. No corporate vibes, no nonsense — just great music, killer taste, and a welcoming underground feel. Punk, indie, alternative, and deep cuts you won’t find anywhere else. The staff is cool, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the scene. Whether you’re crate digging or just browsing, this place feels authentic in the best way. If you miss what record stores used to be, Static Era still gets it right.
If I could give this store 0 stars I would. First of all if you attempt to call them, you'll be subjected to their terrible robotic voicemail. Secondly, the owner attempted to take proprietary business contacts from me in an effort to collector records with the offer of "paying me later". Finally, the disingenuous owner DID call me only to check in disingenuously as if I was the was one with the problem because he is running a vanity business. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!! THANKS!! :-)
Stopped in here on a whim and am glad I checked it out. On a nice day when there is nothing going on, I like to take a drive to a record store I have never been to and check it out. This time, it was Static Era Records. I classify record stores into two categories: those you go to with specific purchases in mind, and those you go for browsing without an agenda. I would put Static Era in the browsing category. The store is on the smaller side compared to some other stores, so the selection isn't as vast as other places. However, the expression "quality over quantity" definitely applies here! I have been to a lot of stores where you browse the records and think "who would want any of these records?" Static Era is the opposite. While there might not be a massive amount of records, the ones that are packed into the space are really good stuff! There is a good variety of genres, and there will be something for pretty much anyone here. The prices were also quite fair. It is always cheaper to find something online, but as far as browsing at a physical location and buying records on a whim, you definitely get your money's worth here. Also, the owner was a pleasant, friendly guy who made me feel welcome. I am the type who likes to look silently, and I was able to comfortably do so, but I definitely got the impression that customers who like more interaction in their shopping experience would not have been disappointed. There are a lot of good record stores in Connecticut, and Static Era Records is for sure to be counted among them. If you're in the area and want to flip through some quality records, be sure to stop in!
Very cute record store! Good recommendations and they had both new and used vinyls. Lots of different genres you’ll definitely find something you might like here !
Super cool spot and I'm so upset about not getting here sooner. Jay, the owner, has maximized every inch in a compact spot with cool decor and meticulous attention to detail. Jay created an inviting atmosphere, and he made sure I found exactly what I was looking for. Not only did he help me with a personalized gift for a great price, I witnessed a moment of extraordinary kindness helping a customer coping with a friend's passing. Jay not only made her feel welcome but also refused to charge her for the records she sought during such a challenging time. Static Era Records transcends the ordinary in downtown Milford, not just for its impressive collection but for the genuine care and passion of its owner. It's definitely a welcome edge to the neighborhood. I'll be back for sure!
