Been driving past this place for years and finally stopped by. So glad I did! Great collection of original vinyls. Old stuff, new stuff. CD's, cassettes. Even got some hardware for sale. Little gem tucked away - you definitely need to visit!
Kevin is fantastic. I brought my 60 year old record player because it didn't work. He fixed it years ago before he moved and I didn't want to drive downtown and I brought it to two different people and neither one fixed it. I went to see Kevin and as usual he fixed it. He does great work. I know he doesn't like to work on old record players because you can't get the parts but he is a genius when it comes to fixing old record players. Thank you Kevin!!!
A very pleasant experience. I brought my tone head in looking to replace the cartridge and the employee happily took one off the shelf and installed it for me right then. He was also very kind to my two small children.
Not exactly the diamond in the rough, Sound Exchange is known to people who know. I appreciated the clear labels and large print, to capture your eye from across the store. Although the vinyl was not a large surplus, they had an interesting diverse mix of music. But, the CD selection, was just as diverse, and larger, too. I appreciated how staff welcomed everyone in, then allowee people their space to browse or ask questions later. The staff on duty seemed particularly helpful when a Senior came in, arms loaded down with a turntable and cords, then sat and helped him assess the value of his equipment. Great little nugget of a shop. I hope to explore other record stores when I return to H- town and see how they all compare.
If you are looking for local music on vinyl, then head to Sound Exchange! Sound Exchange also has a great selection of music both new and used. Did I mention you can pick up a turntable here too? Yep. And probably the best prices in town.
