Nice place! Very small, quaint but quality vinyls. Heavy on hard rock, alt rock, and heavy metal mostly. Really pleasant staff and free stickers!
Great store. Excellent punk selection. The owner and the dude working was really cool. I’ll be back.
I went through the two bins near the checkout desk. These were discounted records well under $5. I found an Alan Parsons Project record. I don't usually buy a record just for one song, but it was only $3. It has the single 'Eye in The Sky'. The Employee their had no problem showing me the record; and I can see why. It was in great condition, not just for a $3 record; but in great condition in general. It plays pretty quietly and sounds good with barely a scratch on it. I was astounded. I think that if you like records and being in this hobby, you can expect great things from low prices if you're willing to look. Every song plays great. Thanks Sorry State Records, for having low priced records and that for even $3 they sound good. Yes, it was an original pressing from the early 1980s. Record stores don't usually do returns on used records, so it's good to check before you purchase. Especially since I'm one of the 50% of people that actually own a player to play their records on. I also got The Who's greatest Hits and an Elton John for $15 each. Both also play great and come with good outer sleeves. Their is a place to park nearby that offers 1 hour of free parking. I couldn't find it. Don't go to the outside lot right across the street; they charged me $14 for two hours of parking. I think that's a bit high; I've seen parking garages charge less. It's still better than getting it towed or a ticket. Lastly, if you need an inexpensive turntable; the Rt85 is a great choice. And yes, $500 is at the lower cost for a high quality turntable. I was also surprised when I was first starting out. However, I can assure you that getting a nearby $200 stylus on a $500 table almost never happens. And somehow the rest of it is also good. It's made in someplace like China; that's probably how it's sold at that price. You also get an adustable anti skate and a tonearm weight as well as a ground screw on the back. I hate having to track down unwanted noise, so having a dedicated ground screw for me is a must. Comes in a beautiful bamboo or wood finish. And whatever the other finishes were. Could also get an rt 82 for $300 and upgrade later to an 85. Like most proper turntables; they have no amp built-in, so you'll need to provide one. I like the Art accessories Dj pre amp 2. It punches well above it's $65 price point. All you'll need then is a static brush and some inner and outer sleeves. Also possibility a wet brush to clean extra dirty records. Thanks to whoever took the time to make it this far and having an interest in a local record store. I know this review went on for a long while. I'm glad vinyl has come back and other people want to support a local record store. As you'll discover; a lot of times the older records were mastered better and give better sound over their streaming counter parts. You don't need to get too caught up in having only original pressing though. For $25 I got a new copy of Led Zeppelin 4th album and I think it sounds pretty good. Definitely better than on Spotify. Thanks again to Sorry State Records for providng good quality records even for the low dollar ones. As an added bonus don't stack records straight up and down. In case you weren't already aware this causes records to warp and stylus do not like tracking warped records. Some can play just fine and other have been warped too far. Thanks again I hope this long review was helpful. Have a good day.
I love this shop! Every time I come into town, I go dig and always find great stuff. And the prices?! They're excellent. Found this sealed (and out of print) Cursive album for $20!
This place is great! There’s tons of records and they’re all organized very well. I stopped by to get an Xmas present for my dad and was not familiar with his taste of music so a staff member took the time to pick out a handful of records he would like to let me look through! The records all seem be in good shape too. Overall great experience!
