Cool place. This is more like a comic book toy store. A geeks dream store. There are other cool items as well. You just need to check it out.

One Star – Beware When Shopping Here We had a disappointing experience at the Trading Post in Placerville. My daughter went in to buy Pokémon cards and ended up with Japanese-language packs—not what she wanted or expected. There was no clear signage or explanation that these packs were different, and the owner placed the blame on the kids for not noticing the foreign text. He also enforces a strict “no returns” policy, even in cases like this where there was clearly a lack of transparency. It feels like the business model relies on taking advantage of young, inexperienced customers. Judging by the many similar reviews, this isn’t a one-time issue. The store is often empty, and unfortunately, we now understand why. The lack of integrity shown here is a stain on Main Street and doesn’t reflect the values of the Placerville community. Please check the other honest reviews (the ones not written by the owner) before shopping—if you look closely, you’ll see the pattern. This store has a reputation for a reason.

I check out this store maybe 15 times a year or so for the past 4 years. Domingo, the owner is kind. I feel I always go in at the end of the day so the customer service isn’t exquisite as in happy to see me or whatever, but it isn’t necessary, when I ask question’s Domingo is happy to answer and knowledgeable. His business survived the pandemic so credit is due where credit is due. I find some of the prices to be a bit much though the rarity and authenticity of the items are unmatched. The overpricing of some items is fair considering you know you’re getting an authentic item, so you are paying for a service as much as you are paying for a product. With manufacturing the way it is and brick and mortar stores going out of business it’s RARE you can find a place that has the niche nerd thing you’re looking for, without paying shipping or gambling that what you buy isn’t a fake. There are many items for a ton of modern hobbies, or retro aesthetic; including old cameras , retro games, old comics, old music, and everything in-between. Domingo has rare appreciation for older media that many people can share enthusiasm for.
