I have never had such a horrible experience shopping in a local business as I did at this store! First few minutes after I walked in the store and the Owner insults me because I said I was looking for vinyl records for my husband to give away as prizes when he is DJs online and then He asks me not to touch the records because he doesn’t want fingerprints and he spent time cleaning the records. I responded that I don’t buy used records without checking them for scratches and continue to look through the records. After about 15 minutes he asks me if I am almost done and that I am making it difficult for other customers to look at the records and killing the vibe . ( He thought I was there to fleece ) There were no other customers in the store the entire time I was in there. Then he tells me that it’s frowned upon for me to look up the resell value of the records but I didn’t ask him to change the price of anything. And considering I don’t even resell vinyl does not mean that I want to overpay for it. I would discourage anyone especially women from doing business with them. The owner was completely disrespectful, misogynistic and treated me like I was trying to do something wrong. He informed me that he buys all his stuff from the Salvation Army and suggested I should go there. Worst experience I’ve ever had. And I still spent over $100 dollars. The only person killing the vibe was the owner and he literally had me in tears when I left. Really sad because I love to support local businesses and never had any issues or complaints about anyone ever. I hate leaving a negative review but in this case I just didn’t deserve to be treated like that.

I have been coming to mothership for all of my record needs for almost three years now and have always had such a pleasant experience with Jason. He’s super helpful i’m willing to get you what you want as long as he can get it in. He is also one of the best priced places around here. You’re not breaking the bank and still shopping local. What is there not to love!

one of the best record stores in the state of pennsylvania!! very warm vibe inside and an amazing selection of everything, especially some great underground emo, alternative, punk etc. cds. the prices are very fair, and the owner is super laidback and knowledgeable, making the experience all the more enjoyable. i couldn’t recommend this place enough!!

Always had a great experience here! I was able to find Taylor Swift’s TTPD Anthology vinyl for $60! It is a very hard find and I thought the price was great considering that if they come available again on Target it’s $100. It is well organized and I had the pleasure of dealing with the owner and his wife, who are both very nice! One of my favorite places in York and my favorite record store to go to!

I stopped in last week while in town on business, and wow, what a great shop. The employee (owner?) was super chill and down to talk about music. The records were in great shape and well curated, and pricing was totally fair. I wish I didn't live all the way on the West Coast, but I'll be back next time I'm in town.
