Been going here for 30 years. Absolutely one of the best record shops ever. Mike, the owner, (a real OG if ever there was one) has always kept inventory amazing and prices fair. A little something for everyone!

I've both sold and purchased records here and was beyond pleased with each visit! The staff are approachable but don't overwhelm and all come off as easy going, the store has a great selection of new and used music in various formats, and their prices for buys are fair. They also keep up-to-date on releases and (most importantly for me) have an EXCELLENT new metal section. Loads of subgenres, loads of sick new releases and reissues on hand each time I've stopped by. Would highly recommend!!

Ive been going to this store since I was a kid for music and books. I like that I can find music that isn't carried in a chain store like Best Buy. I love that I'm supporting local business as well. The store is more than just music although the variety is great. They carry a lot of vinyl and box sets and always willing to order what you cant find. The staff is knowledgeable...always have a different genre of music playing overhead. They also stock stickers, patches, posters, incense, and books. You can always find a little something different compared to a chain store. Most important, when you shop at Moondog Music you're supporting locally owned business... Check it out!

I've spent thousands of dollars here over my life. At one time, I came here every Friday and grabbed a CD or two. Every month, I eagerly awaited Punk Planet or Maximum Rock N Roll hitting the magazine shelves. While I don't live in Dubuque anymore, when I come visit, I make sure to stop here. Mike, the owner, can still be spotted. Most of the CDs have been replaced with vinyl at this point, which is great. You can spend a few hours digging through what they have. They also have a large supply of pipes and bongs if that is your thing. Also, tons of posters, shirts, hats and a modest selection of books.
