Love Garden is unmatched. I only make it up to Lawrence once or twice a year, but I look forward to my visit here every time. Great music selection, friendly employees, and the place just has a good feel to it. Give them all your money!!!
We were left a lot of vinyls from the 60’s & 70’s. 7 boxes I believe. Several had damaged covers. After filtering out the ones we ‘had to keep’, we took the rest to the Love Garden sounds because Google said they gave the most money. Google was right. Just this week I took 23 albums to Overland Park Half Price Books. They offered me nine dollars. I declined. Love Garden sound gave me 26 bucks for those albums. I’ve made $60, $50, $30 for consecutive boxes of 30-50 vinyl records. They even take the ones they don’t really want for a few dollars a bundle, and album specific paper sleeves in good shape are sellable too. Cash or store credit. I’ll be back. Make an appointment & come back in 45min. Free parking in the back. Here’s a picture of the back door. It’s a shorter walk to the selling table.
I have been going to the Love Garden since I was 14 years old. Now that I have kids my kiddo and I go there together because they have found the love of music and records as well. Kelly is so kind and friendly to everyone in there. He remembers my child every time we are in there and points out new music that they are into. The fact that he remembers that with the huge amount of foot traffic is impressive. The rest of the staff there is wonderful as well! It’s such a welcoming environment. No snobbiness. Just friendly faces who will chat about music with you. The selection is amazing as well. If you are looking for popular or obscure they probably have it. And if they don’t have it they can track it down for you. If you are in the Lawrence area and love music definitely stop in. Hands down one of our favorite record stores anywhere.
My wife and I came in on February 14 supposedly Valentine’s Day and at our surprise we saw a lot of young teens checking out vinyls. It was our first time being here and was told by my coworker about what to expect. First thing mentioned upon entering to look at bottom right under the table is evil knievel pinball machine. Sadly doesn’t work and been stored under there. Although great to see that! I was told from my coworker not the workers there that the boxes at the back you can also look at it’s just not very desirable but do have a lot of old vinyls there; they’re also not in any particular order so Goodluck! Next time I’ll have to visit that section since being new I didn’t know those were open to the public as well thought they were packaging vinyls or whatnot. The atmosphere was vibing just got a bit busy when we arrived so next time we know to give ourselves ample time to rummage through.
Love Garden is the best. I always leave with something I love to add to my vinyl collection. Recently I went in because I was having some problems with a record skipping. They were so nice and helped me check the record and then taught me how to change the needle on my record machine which made all the difference. They were so kind and helpful (I felt silly asking initially). Such a cool shop. Great vibes too. Highly recommend.
