"I walked in with a mint-condition, first-pressing collection that could’ve funded a small private island, and I walked out with enough store credit to buy a single used guitar pick and a sticker that says 'Music is Life.' [1] The 'appraisal' process here is basically a magic trick where your retirement fund disappears and is replaced by the loose change found in the owner's sofa. [1] They’ll look at a rare, white-label promo and tell you, 'Best I can do is $4 and a half-eaten granola bar because the sleeve has a microscopic dust mote.' [2] Five minutes later, you'll see your records hitting the 'Wall of Fame' with price tags that look like international phone numbers. [2] If you enjoy being legally robbed while someone in a beanie explains why your taste is 'too mainstream' to be valuable, this is your spot. Otherwise, you’re better off trading your vinyl for a handful of magic beans—the ROI is significantly higher." [1]
Just an ok record store. If you enjoy not being greeted when you go into a local spot, this is the place for you. If you like paying $35 for a new vinyl and $50 for reissues, this is the place for you. There’s not much worthwhile in the 1960s-90s range that isn’t a reissue. I wasn’t greeted by the two people at the counter when I walked in nor acknowledged by the person on the floor. I found that par for the course with these local shops. Smh.
Good selection of mostly new vinyl plus lots of ads. Prices were on the lower side for new vinyl and I found several titles i was looking for. Great record store, check it out!
I so enjoyed my time crate scouring (lol) at Landlocked Music store. Friendly service. Great selection of records. Pricing is decent. I walked out happy with a bag :) Look forward to my next visit, there.
This place took me back to 1991 when I started college at Purdue and frequented Von's. Loved everything about Landlocked!! They even had a box of free posters! Great selection. Will be back!
