From the moment you walk into this bookstore, you feel excited. It doesn’t even have a traditional bookstore smell. Maybe the vast number of vinyl records balances out the dusty paper. (Which I do love BTW) This store has one of the most intuitive layouts I’ve ever encountered in a bookstore, and the selection, wow! After making all of my selections, I spoke to the owner for a bit. He seems to have a passion for finding everything interesting and unique. What a nice guy! I tried to keep it reasonable and only bought four books, but I already have plans to go back, and I reached out to friends who are in the area to see if there’s anything they need! It seems more critical now than ever to have as many books as you can so that we don’t lose history.
An institution. Every time I visit Tahoe I stop in. You can always find something special. I got a first edition of Claire Vaye Watkin's Battleborn once. They had issues of Confidential from the 1950s. I particularly love all the local zines they carry.
We love this place. My partner collects records and loves to come here and talk to the old guy that owns it. I really like the books he has and I usually buy some
This is a treasure trove! Super funky and dusty but great finds.
A solid little shop. The book selection was surprisingly diverse! I glanced at the records and saw a great selection there too but I was interested in the books so I spent my time browsing the shelves. There are tons of sections that are well-labeled and easy to browse. I loved their local interest sections that included books about the Lake Tahoe area, as well as other California/Nevada points of interest like Death Valley, Joshua Tree, and Yosemite. The gentleman working the counter was friendly and efficient. When I'm in Tahoe again, I'll be stopping by!
