In the Groove Records

I read the reviews prior to visiting the store and was hopeful for a great experience. That didn’t happen. I tried again weeks later and received the same treatment. I have never been to a store where I feel like the owner wants me to leave and is anything but friendly. Good luck to anyone who visits this store. Maybe he’ll be friendly to you.

Love love love this place! If you are looking for music in a physical format, this is the place to look. Amazing selection and prices you can't beat.

My kids and I visited the store and we will not be back. When we walked in the store, the man behind the counter looked up, without saying anything, no welcome or hi. He was very unfriendly and kept looking up and watching my kids as they looked at CD's. My one daughter, who has hearing loss and sometimes has a hard time understanding directions, asked about a group and if he had it and he explained where it might be if he had it. She was not understanding that after he said he didn't think he had any CD's by the group, that if they did have it, which he suggested she double check him, that it would be in the bins behind her. My other daughter proceeded to ask him if he had another singer and his reply was, "Guys here is the thing" and he told them it would be on the shelves or bins, as he had explained. She said sorry and he said it is okay. My daughter proceeded to come back to me and tell me I think he is getting annoyed with us. She picked up on how unfriendly he is and how annoyed he seemed to be by our visit and their questions. On our first visit here, there was a wonderful older woman who made us feel welcome the moment we walked into the store. We did not have the same welcoming experience and we will not be back.

Store has a decent selection of vinyl and cds. We tried getting person working to converse with us but did not seem interested. We were a few hours from home and made it a point to stop and see this store and but really did not feel welcome.

The best record store ever! The owner is super friendly and always has great recommendations, they’ve got great prices, and rare stock you won’t find anywhere else. They also give really fair prices on trade-in vinyl. I go out of my way to stop here anytime I’m passing through Jefferson City. Can’t recommend In The Groove enough!
