Nice store. But the CDs were just placed in one small corner, with no organisation. The vinyl records were sorted, but the CDs were a mess.
So fun to visit! Well organized. Would have loved to buy more, but prices were high even for just used books. The selection is quite eclectic, however, and in the age of digital domination, physical media will always prevail!
Nice enough spot — good selection, well-organized, pretty efficient use of space, nice decor, friendly staff. But — as others have referenced here, the pricing is offensively high. As someone who buys and sells records regularly on the commonly adopted online marketplace, I have a pretty good sense of pricing, and literally every single item I ran across with any interest, I disgustedly put back because the price was outrageous, way beyond being even close to what I’d be willing to pay. Saw one record I’d wanted for a long time, thought I could easily see myself shelling out 25 or 30 for it, maybe 35 or 40 if I was really feeling it. It was 75. Saw another record I’m missing from my collection that’s a very common, well-circulated item that one might expect to find in any other shop for anywhere from 5 to 15. Here, it was 30 — and it wasn’t some special reissue, deluxe edition or anything like that. Very run-of-the-mill copy of a heavily pressed popular record. In fact, there were two copies, just sitting there collecting dust, 30 each. I kept scoping around looking for something that might make sense to pick up — I’m someone who loves buying records and rarely leaves a shop empty-handed. But I did in this case. Even a few things that wouldn’t exactly break the bank, I put back because the experience thus far led me to believe that anything I bought there was bound to be overpriced. The only things I picked up were a couple of books my daughter wanted — again, very run-of-the-mill, common stuff that should be 5 to 8 bucks each. They were about 12 each, but I was like fine, my kid really wanted them. A real shame, because having a local shop that’s clearly well-curated is certainly great. But I came away with the impression that the target audience is folks who are less seasoned at record shopping and perhaps willing to overpay because they don’t know any better. No offense to the shopkeeper — like I said, seemed nice enough, and the place was pleasant to browse through. But to someone pretty active in the record-exchange world, the pricing was way, way, way off.
Make sure you check out this totally fun and eclectic shop on your next visit to Media. Filled with all of the fabulous titles. A huge collection of vinyl records and a blast to the past with VHS tapes and toys, especially from the '80s. This is a fun little shop. And worth the stop.
Amazing record shop in town! The staff are the coolest, they have amazing selections from Punk, to 90s hip hop to jazz. Will absolutely recommend to anyone in the area!
