I've been to this shop numerous times and I loved the eclectic but cozy feel of the store. There were so many interesting trinkets and books and I enjoyed perusing the aisles.
(Adding detail at the request of the owner.) I found the lack of organization to be off-putting. If you enjoy flipping through bin after bin of randomly assembled records with no price tags, then this may be the perfect place for you! But I’d personally like to see a more organized record section. It’s a very cluttered space in general.
Staff was impolite and rude. The girl at the register appeared to be upset and inconvenienced by my presence in the store. She then gave rude condescending answers to questions I had about the price of the books, making me feel uncomfortable. I don't want to imply that this treatment was racially motivated but their actions and tone felt like it was. I do not recommend this store due to their poor treatment of customers.
This shop was such a very intriguing spot to explore- so many little knick knacks and curios! Beautiful indie, alternative aesthetics. Some of the records were way overpriced to my collector friend, but others (mainly used vinyls) seemed to be reasonable- I guess it depends on what seems in demand. I didn’t end up buying anything but the shop itself was a very vibey, fun place to visit. Additionally, some friends and I visited from out of town to come to a listening party for the new twenty øne piløts album. Though he was patient in working around the extra crowd, it seemed the owner didn’t expect as many fans as actually showed up (at least 30-40 people were lined up to go in, with the store at the capacity of about 10). That struck me as kind of odd, considering tøp is known for having a wide-scale, mainstream fan following. Maybe for a larger scale listening event like this it would be a good idea to rent a bigger space or hold the event outside, since the space inside the store is so small? Overall not a bad experience- nice little place!
Wandered into this store about 45 minutes before closing and felt instantly welcomed. Energy and vibe were positive and inviting. Much of the vinyl was priced and condition rated. Some were not and we were immediately informed of the same and told he would let us know price on anything we were interested in. My sense was he just hadn’t had time to get to all of it and those marked were quite reasonable. I didn’t have time to explore the books but seemed like a nice collection as well - quite diverse. We had a nice conversation during the checkout process. Just being in the shop brought me joy and I will definitely be back.
