They buy and sell not only CDs but also vinyl and DVDs! The place was very popular even on a Tuesday during midday. It seems very well organized and has expert personnel on hand to answer questions.
Stopped by on a Saturday at 12pm after receiving an email back from CD Cellar saying I don't need an appointment to have them take a look at about 100 records I am looking at selling. When we get there, two young girls at the front told me that Devin is "usually late but is supposed to be here at 12." They told me to go ahead and drop off all 100 of the records with them and then to leave and wait to hear back from Devin after he had reviewed them all and could make an offer. I didn't want to simply leave all 100+ of my records with them with no way of knowing what could happen to them and if I would get them all back. Also, they said I could not sit with Devin when he looks at them because he "has to listen to them in the back room" - which I don't care; these are my records, and I don't want someone just taking all 100 and listening to them on their own time for who knows how long and then MAYBE calling me back to let me know what they would offer. I want to be there for the process and to negotiate on the sale in real time - that is how real sales work. You don't just get a take it or leave it mandate. So, I said how about you take my name and number and Devin can call me to discuss the potential sale. The girls said sure and took my name and number - I never received a call. Poor business etiquette that wasted my time.
If you are a classical music lover, make sure you don't miss out this place! I've been to record stores in many cities and none of them is comparable to this one, which has really decent collection of classical vinyls and cds. You can definitely find something you love with reasonable price.
Fantastic indie record store and great location to participate in Record Store Day (RSD). They have one of the best selections in the area for all genres- pop, rock, grunge, classic and everything in between. Their RSD is grab-and-go which is more stressful and less ideal than the menu-order style RSD experience. However, CD Cellar is less intense than other record stores so you have a better chance at getting the titles you want. The owner is a super awesome guy and I love patronizing this small business.
CD Cellar is a rare find, especially since most CD and DVD stores and kiosks have disappeared. It offers a large selection of new and used CDs, vinyl, and even a few cassettes, mostly focused on music with a smaller selection of movies. Everything is neatly organized by music genre, making it easy to browse. They also buy CDs in very good condition, so it’s a great place for both finding and selling music. Price: reasonable Parking: hard on weekends, but if you want to park close by, available Shelves and boxes: not very well organized, especially since there are boxes of CDs under almost every table, you need to bend and browse in a narrow aisle.
