The owners are amazing in our helpful to answer any question that you may have. And there is a huge selection of movies & music in different formats. And a great book collection. All at a reasonable price.
The Good: Very nice prices. Not crowded. Well-organized, the bins are orderly. Parking is easy. Friendly staff. They have good selection of mid 60s-mid 80s Classic AOR. I would come back. The Not-As Good: All other genres are a bit skimpy. Surprisingly little 80s/90s/00s Alternative/Indie. Not a single New Order, Smiths, Siouxsie, Cure, Oasis, Blur record to be found. There was some Elvis Costello, Cars, and other more mainstream-of-the-era alt-leaning rock. If it got played on AOR stations, they have it. If it only got played on college radio or MTV's 120 mins, they prob won't have it.
Have been visiting Broken Anchor regularly for the past two months and never leave without buying a record or CD from the formidable collection. They have a unique variety of books with titles from local authors as well. The store is clean and organized, and the owners and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. This place is nostalgia and chill vibes for a 90s kid who still loves reading, watching movies and listening to music.
My immediate thought was, this place feels like someone's wildest dream come true. It's the type of place that feels like home. The record collection is way rad. VHS hits, Funko Pop, old Star Wars collectables. I picked up a Dude Lebowski figure, a Selena Funko Pop, a bowl made from a Beach Boys record and a book by Jenna Evans Welch called Love & Gelato. Great book, super fun and cute. Also I picked up the Lord of the rings trilogy books. Oh yeah, adjacent to the collectable records, VHS tapes, CDs and cassette tapes is a super cute book store with a super wide selection of books, a couple of chairs and a really great space to find your next book If page 158 was the cute nerdy introvert this would be the alt chick who could handle the mosh pit but deep down inside she's also a huge softy lover girl type that's a sucker for a happy ending or a D&D campaign. I should have taken pictures but I didn't so I guess now you have to go check it out huh?
What a find!!! I absolutely love this place, it is infinitely worth parking in the weirdly shaped parking lot. Incredible CD selection. Cool music playing (of course). Overall great vibes. My dad who is a music fanatic in his late sixties also loved this place when I brought him. The person who worked there is always super cool but I am coming back to say that his album recommendations for my dad were amazing.
